Exam preparation using feedbackr

There is often a tense situation among students before examinations. Every teacher hears the question “what will come to the examination” several times. feedbackr can be ideally used to give your students a sense of what they need to prepare for, or to create awareness of where there are still deficits.

To give your students an insight into what an exam might look like, use feedbackr to create a questionnaire. Your students answer your questions and get a sense of where they are in the development of the learning material and are actively concerned with the topic.

Use single or multiple choice questions with the “Show correct answers” option.

Variants

  1. Calculation of examples or derivation of formulas: provide a calculation example. Your students can calculate the example manually and select the appropriate answer via feedbackr.
  2. Knowledge questions: ask general knowledge questions.

Benefits

  • You get an overview of the learning status of your students.
  • Students can better understand what the exam might look like and what kind of questions are asked.
  • Students can better assess their level of knowledge.
  • Students are once again actively engaged with the topic area.

Multiple Choice Question

Show results immediately: deactivate to avoid mutual interference

Multiple choice: depending on the type of question, if multiple answers can be selected, activate.

Mark answers as correct: If you ask knowledge questions, you can also mark answers as correct. To do this, in the edit mode of the question, click on the circle (for single choice questions) or the square (for multiple choice questions) in the answers that you want to mark as correct. The correct answers will also be shown to your students after stopping the question.

Next week, we will introduce the uses of feedbackr for partner and group discussions.

feedbackr can be used in a wide variety of ways in teaching:

Self-assessment by students with feedbackr

Self-assessments give students the opportunity to consciously reflect on their strengths and weaknesses. Also for the teachers, the collected anonymous results of the self-assessment provide valuable additional information which can be integrated into the lesson/course. This gives the teacher a clearer picture of the students’ overall learning progress.

Use multiple choice questions and make sure that only one answer can be selected (“Multiple Choice” disabled). Important: make sure that the “Show results immediately” setting is deactivated so that students do not influence each other.

Benefits

  • Students reflect on the material presented.
  • Teachers receive an assessment of the learning status of their students.

Next week, we will introduce you to the uses of feedbackr for test and examination preparations.

Warm up & activation of your students with feedbackr

Entering a new teaching unit has a lot of potential to activate your students. Previous knowledge can be queried with certain questions and lectures be planned and structured together. The students are already familiar with the topic in advance and are attuned to the course. Here are a few examples of the questions that can be used:

  • query prior knowledge
  • estimation questions
  • planning of the lecture
  • self-assessment of students
  • what is still unclear about the last unit?

Use single or multiple choice questions. You can use the function “Show correct answers“, if you ask knowledge questions. You can also use free text questions to collect questions about the last unit.

Benefits

  • You get the attention of your students
  • Students are activated to participate
  • You will learn more about the interests or the level of knowledge of your students and will be able to respond even better to them

Do you know our blog post about direct and anonymous feedback in teaching?

Next week we will present opportunities for self-assessment of pupils and students with feedbackr.

Direct and anonymous feedback in teaching

feedbackr education can be used in a variety of ways in teaching. We are presenting in a series didactic recommendations for your lessons and lectures, which have already proved their worth in media didactic. We explain the common application possibilities and the steps to be taken.

One way of using feedbackr education is to receive direct and anonymous feedback from your students. This feedback can simplify planning and structuring your lessons and significantly increase the learning success and motivation of your students. The feedback helps you to find out where there are difficulties or problems with understanding, but also what works well and is well received.

You can use both free text and multiple choice questions.

Variants to obtain feedback

  1. Get feedback throughout the entire course. Leave a free text question open until the end of the course. Free text questions are available in feedbackr education advanced.
  2. Punctual/specific feedback: Get explicit feedback on specific topics. The feedback can be obtained quantitatively with the help of multiple-choice questions or qualitatively with free-text questions. If you use multiple-choice questions you should disable the “show results immediately” setting to prevent students from influencing each other.

Benefits

  • You receive feedback during the lesson and can respond promptly.
  • Your students can directly interact with you and post topics immediately, not just after the lesson, where it is often forgotten.
